For movie buffs who keep a tab on Kollywood happenings, director Ameer’s complaints about the producers of Paruthiveeran is not something new.
However the other side of the coin has also surfaced now with a statement issued from the producer’s circle. According to Mr Prakash Babu who has funded Paruthiveeran along with Gnanavel, Ameer has been giving them trouble right from the start of the film.
He says, “Ameer had initially agreed to release the first copy of the film under two crores and seventy five lakhs. Two schedules of the film were completed by which he had used two crores completely and had committed to wrap the film in one week but wanted an additional 3.5 crores. At that juncture, we decided to manage the finances and asked him to just mention his remuneration alone. He demanded an astounding one crore and completed the film in sixty four days when he had wanted just one week to finish it”.
When it came to the audio release, Ameer had sought financial assistance claiming that Paruthiveeran can be sold well once the audio is released and the producers have also complied with his request. Though the movie was sold, Ameer never returned the money. When the problems had compounded, they have gone ahead and complained at the producer’s council. As per the agreement made by Ameer at the council, he has to submit details of accounts which he has not done till date. Prakash adds, “Whenever we tried to contact him, he goes into hiding but at the same time issues statements saying that we have not paid him. As he has not returned the money due to us and at the same time spreading defaming news about us, we are considering taking legal action against him.”
