Well, they had already announced Macau and the Venetian Resort as the venue for the 2009 IIFA awards to be held between June 11 and 13. But it seems that a lot of things are yet to be decided, like the opening movie of the festival.

The organizers are yet to take a decision on the movie which will be premiered at the festival or whose stills will be shown due to the ongoing fracas between producers and multiplex owners. The ongoing fracas has ensured that there are no movies lined up for release. In the meanwhile, the technical award winners have been announced, with hardly any surprises there. Jodhaa Akbar seems to have bagged a maximum of five awards Best background score for AR Rahman, Best Costume Design for Neeta Lulla, Best Editing for Ballu Saluja, best Art Director for Nitin Desai and best make up for Madhav Kadam. Best Sound Recording went to Resul Pookutty and Amrit for Ghajini. The film also bagged the Best Visual/Special Effects (Prime Focus). Rock On! won the award for Best cinematography (Jason West) and best sound recording (Purple Haze) The best choreography went to Farah Khan for the 'Desi Girl' number from Dostana. Last year's other big hit, Race, won the award for best re recording (Leslie Fernandes). Oye Lucky Lucky Oye won the award for Best Dialogue (Manu Rishi) and Neeraj Pandey won the best screenplay award for A Wednesday.
