Even though there are no permanent friends and enemies in politics and B Town, loyalty is not such rare quality here either. Look at Shah Rukh Khan and his friends for instance, or even SRK for instance. It's anything for his friends, where he is concerned.

SRK's good friend Karan Johar too believes in sticking up for his friends and his friends seem to reciprocate the sentiment. Everybody knows, how fond Karan is of Kajol as well. So recently when Karan decided to make Stepmother, the Hollywood flick starring Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts, he could think of nobody better than Kajol to essay the role played by Sarandon in the original. As for Roberts' role, he approached Kareena, who was more than happy to be given a chance to work opposite Kajol, an actress she admires a lot. So far go good. But according to sources, designer Vikram Phadnis too had thought of remaking Stepmother in Hindi. He had apparently been working on the script for the last year or so. He had even zeroed down on Kajol and Madhuri Dixit to play the lead roles. But it seems that Kajol turned him down but went ahead and said yes to Karan's project. Of course, Karan went the whole hog and even bought the rights of the film so. Once Phadnis learnt of this, he is believed to have backed off. But he hasn't given up on the idea of making a film. He has another script which he plans to work on seriously. But what is interesting is that Kajol had date problems when Phadnis approached her, all of which dissolved when Karan approached her. But that's friendship for you!
