Who would have though that someone like Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have to face so many problems in his attempt to cast a young actor for his next film, Chenab Gandhi, which will be directed by his assistant Vibhu Puri.

Chenab Gandhi already stars Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan. What Bhansali is looking for is a young actor in the lead. The role has been turned down by Shahid Kapur, according to sources. But even before Shahid came into the picture, Harman Baweja had been finalized for the role. But he was replaced with John Abraham by Bhansali following his second successive flop in Victory. As for John, with Vidya in the cast, his girlfriend Bipasha Basu is believed to have put her foot down. It seems that she still does not trust her boyfriend with Vidya. The last time the two worked together and spraks flew was during the shooting of Salaam e Ishq. Anyway, it seems that Bhansali has now zeroed in on Abhay Deol, everybody's favourite actor these days. It appears that the actor is still in New York, enjoying his sabbatical from the industry. Bhansali is believed to have already spoken to the actor, who will be back in the country very soon. It seems that he will respond only after he has gone through the script. What with all these casting woes, Bhansali has had to postpone the shooting of Chenab Gandhi. Initially, the film was to go on floor by the end of May. But now it all depends on when Abhay comes back from New York and his answer. Till then, Bhansali has no other option but to wait it out.
