The stand of between the producers and multiplex owners is believed to be over. According ton reports, just a formal announcement has to be made regarding the settlement. And it's only once the announcement is made, will the dates for future releases be announced.
This much is true, that no big film is releasing in the next week as all the filmmakers would have to get their PR and marketing into full gear. If the current IPL was cited as reason for the strike continuing for so long, then one wonders what will happen with the 20 20 World Cup beginning in England in a couple of days times? Will the film releases begin only after the World Cup is over? There is too much at stake with so many releases being held up. It is expected that Kaminey, New York and Kambakkht Ishq will be the first lot of biggies to hit the screens after the strike is lifted. But even these releases will only happen by the end of the month. As for the films which are currently running, 99 is managing to hold on at a few selected theatres. Suno Na was a disaster, while Detective Naani too failed to make any impact. Up for release next week is Maruti Mera Dost which has been directed by Manikya Raju.
