London, Aug 12 (ANI): Singer Melanie Brown a.k.a. Scary Spice has insisted that by fighting her paternity suit with actor Eddie Murphy, she is representing the plight of all single mums who are in the same position.

Talking to US chat show Larry King, Mel B told the broadcaster that her newborn daughter Angel has all the right to know who her dad is.

"I think the most important thing is that Angel knows her dad. Her daddy is Eddie Murphy and she has every right to know who he is," the Mirror quoted Mel B as saying.

"I want to stand up for all the other single parent mothers out there that are in the same position as me. This isn't the first time it has happened to a woman and it's about time for fathers to stop and be responsible and be an emotional support to their kids," she added.

The singer, who secretly married Stephen Belafonte in June, also said 'Angel has one father and that is Eddie Murphy'.

The 32-year-old also revealed that Murphy did not try to contact her even after DNA results proved that he was the baby's dad.

She added that Murphy did not reach out to provide her emotional support when she needed it the most.

"But it has just been ignored no matter how hard I try to contact him. We had a brief conversation in September and it was left that he would call me back. I was pregnant and in a very emotional state," she said.

"I needed some kind of emotional support from him. Our communication broke down and I was left to deal with what I had to deal with," she added. (ANI)
