London, Aug 13 (ANI): Upcoming James Bond film's climax Palio festival sequence has been slammed by animal rights activists, dubbing it a 'glamourisation of a relic of medieval brutality'.
The new flick simply referred to as Bond 22 is a sequel to earlier Bond film 'Casino Royale' and will again have Daniel Craig playing the agent.
The activists claim that horses will be maimed or killed in the shooting of the horse race.
The flick, which will begin shooting this week, will be shot in the Tuscan hill town of Siena.
"The problem is that the Palio, like other local festivals, is not subject to central state controls. We want a national law that will guarantee standards of animal safety. We are not living in the Middle Ages, we are living in 2007," Eleonora di Giuseppe, spokeswoman for the Italian Federation of Equestrian Sport said.
Thought the plot is unknown, Siena has approved shooting of the film's climax in the town that will have the blonde actor chasing the villain down the steep and narrow streets, while the horses gallop around the Campo, the main square, reports the Telegraph.
However, filmmakers have agreed to the condition that the race is treated with 'full respect'.
The film has been prohibited from showing any violence "involving either people or animals" that may happen (ANI)
