The black &white Ashok Kumar-Madhubala starrer Howrah Bridge is soon set to be revived. This cult film directed by Shakti Samanta in 1958 is soon going to be made into a full-length animation film.
This seems to be the season for reviving or remaking old classics. BR Chopra's Naya Daur has recently been released in a coloured version and Victoria No. 203 is being remade. But Howrah Bridge is taking a leap into another league altogether. It will probably be the first of its kind to be made into an animation film. The film featured the famous cabaret number Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo by Helen. The film also starred actors like KN Singh, Om Prakash, Madan Puri, Mehmood and Minoo Mumtaz. The music was by OP Nayyar and almost all the songs of the film were hits. There was another famous number, this featured on the heroine Madhubala, Aaiye Meherban. The film's rights have been purchased by Pritish Nandy, who says that it was his dream to make Howrah Bridge in a modern animation format..
