T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar has managed to get Satish Kaushik to direct the remake of Subhash Ghai's Karz with Himesh Reshammiya playing the role made immortal by Rishi Kapoor. Karol Bagh Films and Entertainment, the production company owned by Kaushik and Anupam Kher will be the line producers for the film.
Apparently T-Series had first approached Ghai to direct the remake. But Ghai refused as he said that he could not remake something that he had created. It was then that Kaushik was roped in. Actor Rishi Kapoor feels honoured that someone is remaking his film. He has all praise for Reshammiya and is sure that the music composer-cum-singer-cum-actor will do a great job with Karz as well. But Rishi would like to act in the film and is hoping that someone will cast him in the role played by Premnath. Karz had memorable songs, which the remake will not use, but a tagline or two from the original songs may be used says Bhushan Kumar. Meanwhile, neither the old nore the new producers of the film have the title with them. It is currently with actor Manoj Kumar's company. Sources at the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA), Mukta Arts confirmed this as well.
