The tide is not really in favour of Yashraj Films. First, they started this year on a sour note with their releases Tara Ra Rum Pum and Jhoom Barabar doing dismal business. And now, the latest is that the production house may have to give up the title of their forthcoming film Laga Chunri Main Daag.
It is believed that producer Himanshu Joshi of Bhoomi Shree Pictures and director Sripati Mishra have filed a case against Yashraj Films saying that they had registered the title much before Yashraj. They have been planning the film for quite a while now and will begin shooting very soon. According to Sripati, singers Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan and Richa Sharma have already recorded songs for the film. The story of Sripati's film is about three sisters and they have almost finalized the cast. Yashraj Films is believed to have offered them Rs 1 lakh for the title, which they refused. The only difference between the two titles is the tag line, "Journey of a Woman' which has been added by Yashraj. Himanshu and Sripati say they are not going to cave in and will put up a fight. They have issued them a legal notice as well. Yashraj Films has denied receiving any legal notice but admitted that they have seen the public notice issued in one of the trade magazines. They maintain that the title of their film is "Laaga Chunri Main Daag—Journey of a Woman,' and not just Laaga….' They are adamant on not changing the title.
