For the first time ever in his two decade long career, Chunky Pandey is enacting a double role. Not just he is extremely excited about his film, he is also warning audience beforehand about what to expect, especially with two Chunky Pandey on screen. The film in question is SANKAT CITY which is directed by debutant Pankaj Advani.'The film is a black comedy and what makes it further special is the fact that for the first time in my career, I have a double role in a film', winks Chunky.
Two Chunkys in a single film? Now that's quite some deal, isn't it?
Laughs Chunky, 'Yes, I am warning audience beforehand, though let me tell you that the film features Kay Kay Menon and Rimii Sen as well. The film moves in real time and has an amazing screenplay to boast. Quite some effort went into creating my look and even I couldn't recognize myself when I saw myself for the first time in the mirror after my makeup was done.'
Chunky Pandey promises that his SANKAT CITY would show that side of Mumbai which has been hitherto unexplored.
''There have been number of films that have been made with Mumbai as a backdrop or a character. COMPANY, LIFE IN A METRO, EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL - they all have presented Mumbai in a different manner. Now watch out for SANKAT CITY which shows the flip side of the city. It has been brilliantly presented by Pankaj Advani, who makes his debut as a director with this film'', says Chunky Pandey.
As for 2009, it seems like Chunky Pandey film festival in the offering, what with as many as half a dozen films featuring him lined for release. While he has already been seen in EK - THE POWER OF ONE and PAYING GUESTS already, there are also films like SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON, DE DANA DAN, DADDY COOL, CLICK, MONOPOLY - THE GAME OF MONEY, HELLO DARLING, KHALLBALLI - FUN UNLIMITED and ISHAAN and lined up for release.
Coming back to SANKAT CITY, the film has been produced by Anubhav Sinha and has been ready for some time. Also starring Anupam Kher, Dilip Prabhawalkar, Rahul Dev, Yashpal Sharma, Manoj Pahwa and Sanjay Mishra in principal roles, SANKAT CITY was waiting for the right time to see a theatrical release and is now all set for a 10th July release.
