The clippings of Priyanka Chopra from the IIFA Awards held in Macau told it all. Now the pallu of the saree is not there to hide the bosom but to accentuate it, as Priyanka Chopra displayed in her saree designed by Manish Malhotra on the eve of receiving the award, and this one display has pushed the saree into a new plane.

It is now become a garment that is hip and risque and Priyanka Chopra never looked more stylish and sexy as she did in this new designer saree, even though she had left the people gaping in amazement at her new glam look both in FASHION and DOSTANA, but her appearance in saree made it one of the sexiest outfits in which she has appeared so far.

Khushwant Singh must be the happiest person as he had always held the view that the sex and style that an Indian woman is able to pack in a saree, cannot be matched by any other garment on the earthy, after all it conceals whatever has to be concealed and to reveal whatever has to be revealed is left to the discretion of the wearer, as Priyanka showed.

In fact the new generation of female actors be it Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Shilpa Shetty or Kareena Kapoor, they all have made this new evolution of saree their signature statement. Kareena Kapoor as a matter of fact had worn this new avatar of saree on the eve of Filmfare Awards Night for the year 2008.

Now the saree is being used with panache to display a well-toned body, which is perfect in dimension from all the sides. The bikini blouse as it called now, was in all probability displayed in public for the first time by Celina Jaitley when she had appeared along with Feroze Khan in one of the award shows, but it has really taken off during the last one year. In the IIFA Awards the same display of saree with bikini Lara Dutta who was in gold color, Raveena Tandon in red and Raima Sen made blouse in white all sporting sarees designed by Manav Gangwani.

But the precursor to all this, or a hint of bikini blouse, which still was in the form of blouse than converging towards bikini was done with panache by Hema Malini in BAGHBAAN and the designers and the female film stars seems to have taken off from there. All in all, it is an interesting trend and it would herald a new era for the sarees and could give the master craftsmen a new lease of life as they can now experiment with it. While the film stars have adapted it in a big way, it would be interesting to see how the common ladies of the country would adapt to it. After all, it would also mean that first they would have to be physically fit, and would this lead to a new trend of health fad, only the time can tell.
