Producer Barkha Roy (popular yesteryear actress Reena Roy's sister) who has produced the silver jubilee musical mega-hit SANAM TERI KASAM and later KARISHMA, almost jolted the invitees with her musical overture at an RD Burman memorial concert. It may be recalled that SANAM TERI KASAM fetched Pancham da his first-ever Filmfare Award for his fabulous musical score during the year 1982. Emotionally charged, as she offered tributes to 'late' Panchamda (RDB), she burst into a number 'Tumse Milke Aisa Laga' from PARINDA on stage and sang the entire waltzy Burman composition as the audience applauded. What made the musical event special, was that two ace musicians from R D Burman's original team comprising saxophone-supremo Manohari Singh along with electric guitarist Ramesh Iyer performed and even conducted the 'live' orchestra.
Interestingly, producer Barkha assured RDB fans that she would shortly return to showbiz with a cricket-centric musical movie, which would be dedicated to her mentor R D Burman. Her sister Reena Roy who has totally called it 'quits' and retreated into family life, may not face the camera in her new project. Besides Madame Roy, among the personalities 'honored' on the occasion, was senior showbiz journalist Chaitanya Padukone who recalled his amazing experiences whilst he used to interview Panchamda, way back in the 80's.
