Washington, Aug 16 (ANI): Singer Connie Francis has decided to sue the family of her late fan who left 300,000 dollars in the name of the sixties' star before the former killed herself on November 27, last year.

Patricia Nilsen had organised a string of bank transfers to Francis's account before she committed suicide, though her family was to bequeath the amount in the original will.

Nilsen's family has accused the artist of influencing her fan to get the amount transferred to her name.

"That 300,000 dollars represents nearly the total value of Ms. Nilsen's estate. Our primary contention is that Ms. Francis enacted undue influence over Ms. Nilsen, which caused her to change the beneficiaries in her estate, or that Ms. Nilsen was insane at the time of her death," Contactmusic the family's lawyer Richard Brown, as telling New York Daily News.

However, Francis refuted the claims and said that she only knew Nielsen as a fan.

The 'Who's Sorry Now' hitmaker said that she decided to sue the family after they threatened to embarrass her publicly is she did not will the sum to them.

"I didn't even know she had any money. It's not my fault she left me the money. "This woman was a fan of mine who came to all my shows in the '70s and '80s. The only real conversations I ever had with her were regarding music," she said.

"At first I was willing to give her family half and also make a 25,000 dollars donation to St. Jude Hospital. They were trying to hold up the payment. So I sued them. I don't want to be greedy about this, but it's clear she didn't provide for these people," she added. (ANI)
