Washington, Aug. 18 (ANI): Celebrated lawyer Debra Opri is seeking a court's intervention to make former 'Baywatch' star David Hasselhoff pay her over 200,000 dollars in attorney's fees for representing his ex-wife Pamela Bach.
She is pressing ahead with her demand for the hefty amount despite the fact that Bach had fired her in June, after losing a court bid for custody of the couple's two teenage daughters.
At a hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, Opri claimed contended that Hasselhoff should foot Bach's legal expenses as she was essentially broke.
The lawyer claimed that she had agreed to take Bach's case with the proviso that all legal expenses would be paid from Haseelhoff's share of the community property.
"She gave me the express directive, 'You have to go after Mr. Hasselhoff,'" E!online quoted Opri as telling Judge Mark A. Juhas.
Hasselhoff's attorney Melvin S. Goldsman refuted Opri's claims by saying that his client had already paid more than 565,000 dollars to Bach's lawyers over the course of the divorce.
"Ms. Bach indicated to the court through her [current] attorney that she did not consent to Ms. Opri seeking her fees from Mr. Hasselhoff, and she had her own issues with Ms. Opri regarding these fees," he said.
Opri was unavailable for comment, although her publicist James Levesque said that the lawyer would not discuss her billing practices with anybody.
"She has a policy of not commenting on fees, because in the past when others have leaked information or details about that, it's just led to misinformation and bad press," he said. (ANI)
