Ameer has filed a case against Sivakumar and his sons Surya and Karthi to pay him Rs.80 lakhs plus interest for production cost of 'Paruthiveeran.'
After hearing the story of 'Paruthiveeran' from Ameer, Sivakumar, Surya and Karthi introduced him to a Gnanavel and said his Studio Green would produce the film. The shooting also started accordingly.
When half the film was complete, Gnanavel produced 'Sillunu Oru Kaadhal' featuring Surya. Because of this, he ran short of funds for 'Paruthiveeran' and the film work stopped half way. So Surya gave Ameer Rs.47 lakhs and told him to complete production of 'Paruthiveeran.'
So Ameer's Teamwork company completed the film. After completion, Sivakumar, Surya, Karthi and Gnanavel saw the film and gave a complaint at the Producers Association that the film belonged to them. The association held talks with both parties and stipulated that the names of both Teamwork and Studio Green should be credited in the title and other financial accounts would be taken care of later by the association. Before that, neither party should sell the remake rights, dubbing rights, TV rights or any such thing without the other party knowing.
In violation of this condition, Ameer accuses Gnanavel of trying to sell the film's rights as well as hindering featuring of Ameer's Teamwork company in the film's publicity. Because of this, Ameer demands in his petition that Gananvel and others should pay him compensation of the 80 lakhs plus interest that he has incurred because of their actions, as well as be ordered that they should not sell language rights or TV rights without his knowledge.
In this case, the Producers Association as well as Prasad Lab have been included. The judge has ordered Sivakumar and his group to file their return petition by 22nd of this month.
