Album: 'Life Partner'; Music Director: Pritam Chakraborty; Lyricists: Javed Akhtar and Kumaar; Singers: Shaan, Antara Mitra, Debojit Dutta, Soham Chakrabarthy, Shreya Ghoshal, Mika Singh, Shakti Singh, Ajay Jhingran, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kirti Sagathia and Kunal Ganjawala; Rating: **

After composing foot tapping chartbusters for Abbas-Mustan's 'Race', Pritam has composed music for the director duo's maiden production venture 'Life Partner'.

But the soundtrack is not as impressive as his previous work such as 'Jab We Met', 'Life...In A Metro', 'Dhoom 2' and 'Gangster'. After hearing the songs, it is evident that he hasn't gone that extra mile for the album.

The album contains five original songs and two remixes.

It opens with 'Kuke kuke' sung by Shaan and Antara Mitra. The fast-paced number starts with Antara singing completely off tune, something that seems to be the requirement of the song according to the lyrics. But the lyrics fail to hold the interest of the listener.

The song also contains a remix version which is better than the original as far as the music is concerned -- it is high on beats.

Up next is 'Teri meri ye zindagi', which is better. A love ballad with touches of melody, it has a pleasing effect and is sung by Soham Chakrabarthy and Shreya Ghosal. However, this too can't be termed an extraordinary offering.

Next is an energetic number 'Aage aage'. Having a range of singers like Mika Singh, Shakti, Ajay Jhingran, Soham and Antara behind the mike, the song is an out and out fun and dance number. But once again the lyrics are not very impressive.

Next is a folk song 'Gunji aangna mein shehnai' sung nicely by Sunidhi Chauhan and Kirti Sagathia. But the number falls flat and has nothing new or path-breaking to offer. It doesn't stand out.

Next we have Sunidhi again for 'Poorza poorza', written by guest lyricist Kumaar. The song sung by Kunal Ganjawala has an edgy beginning and a totally westernised approach. A foot tapping number, 'Poorza poorza' is decent.

The song also has a typical remix version.

On the whole, the album is a major disappointment. Better compositions and hummable lyrics were expected from Pritam and Javed Akhtar.
