On the eve of India's 60th year of Independence, producer Firoz Nadiadwala announced the launch of his latest film, '1857-The Indian Mutiny.' The film will tell the story of six prominent leaders of those times – Tatya Tope, Mangal Pandey, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Rani of Jhansi, Nanasaheb Peshwa and Azeezanbai.
The film is expected to be made on a grand scale and is expected to star top Indian and Hollywood actors. The producer has already hired top historians and they have already begun working on the script. Nadiadwala is trying to rope in the best in the field of art direction, special effects and stunts. According to Nadiadwala, he is going to leave no stone unturned in his efforts to make his most ambitious project to date. He also roped in a director but will divulge his name later. Most of the film will be shot in India. But part of it may be shot in England as well as the film will involve a lot of British characters as well. Nadiadwala wants to make this film so that he can fulfill his father's ambition to make a historical on the 1857 revolt. Plans were underway since 1969 but somehow the film never got made. So this is his chance to fulfill his father's dream.
