The Last Lear, directed by Rituparno Ghosh, will be traveling to the Toronto International Film Festival. The film which is being produced by Planman Motion Pictures, has Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of a failed, ageing Shakespearean actor.
The film which also stars Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal, will premiere at the festival on September 9. The Big B will be sporting a new look for the film. The actor will be seen sporting a flowing white mane for his role in the film. According to Rituparno, Bachchan deeply admires Shakespeare and his work and this comes across beautifully in the film. The film is based on Utpal Dutt's play, 'Aajker Shahjahan'. Besides acting, the actor also helped the director with his writing skills. The film is mostly in English but for a particular scene Rituparno wanted some Hindi dialogues and the Big B stepped in to help him with it. Arjun plays a filmmaker in the movie which also stars Shefali Shah and Divya Dutta.
