One thing has to be given to Ram Gopal Verma that his film after film continues to venture into the unchartered territory, AGYAAT so to say, to unleash a spectacle that has the full potential to zap the audience out of its ennui. It could be in a positive manner when the film becomes a hit, or it could have a negative connotation when the audience has riled his films. AGYAAT is no exception either as here Ram Gopal Verma has shifted his focus on the film world in his own imitable manner and their behavioral aberrations when they are forced into a sticky situation. The existentialist dilemma of being a star or coming down to the level of average human being to tackle a crisis situation has been underlined in a stark motif.

The world of Hindi cinema off late has started focusing on the life and styles of the film world in a big way, and it is indeed providing further food for thought to the film buffs in the country and abroad. Here is a look at some of the attempts of this kind in the recent memory:

KAAGAZ KE PHOOL: The name says it all, the master craftsman Guru Dutt, took it upon himself to unravel for the world the sense of insecurity that operates in the world of cinema, no wonder it still is a master piece.

NASEEB: Man Mohan Desai, the man who believed in grandeur brought a congregation of stars in a song drama, and it was for the first time that such gathering was seen in the silver screen. The world of films however was not woven into the narrative but it was more of an item song.

BHUMIKA: This Shyam Benegal was an attempt to trace the life of a person who is from the world of theatre and screen, Hansa Wadekar and Shyam Benegal in his own style brought out the tribulations successfully.

ZUBEIDA: Shyam Benegal again decided to throw light on the world of cinema and he chose as prop a female actor who tries to adjust into a royalty. It was one of the masterpiece performances by Karishma Kapoor.

WELCOME: Nana Patekar in his own imitable manner brought out in distinct relief the idiosyncratic manner in which the film world operates, and how anybody can grace the silver screen, provided he has right connections.

SARKAR RAJ: Ram Gopal Verma visited the nexus between the under world and financing of the business of the films and the role enacted by Kay Kay was one of the strong points that brought out in distinct motif how the second generation of the underworld people try to use the film stars to add credence to their social standing.

LUCK BY CHANCE: Film industry is indeed a place where quotient of luck predominates and anybody can become a star if the stars favour him. This film conveyed the same message.

OM SHANTI OM: Shah Rukh Khan brought his own interpretation about the world of Hindi cinema, more so in the manner in which it functions, and the cherry of the cake was the sarcastic comment on the Awards function.

KAMBAKKHT ISHQ: Akshay Kumar playing the role of a stunt man brought to the world of cinema the trials and tribulations that that the extras or small time actors face in their day-to-day life.
