The first official screening of noted filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s film Naalu Pengal will be held at the Toronto International Film Festival which starts on September 6. The movie, based on four short stories by the late veteran writer Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai who also wrote the story leading to the film Chemmeen, will have three screenings on September 10, 12, and 14.
Naalu Pengal, slated for release in October in Kerala, stars Nandita Bose, Kavya Madhavan, Padmapriya, Gitu Mohandas, Manju Pillai, Ramya Nambeesan, Manoj K. Jayan and others. The movie tells the story of women from four different levels of the society. The film will be screened in the Masters' section of the Toronto Festival. The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) held in Toronto, Canada is considered one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.
