Director Madhur Bhandarkar seems to be having second thoughts. After completing his expose of the jail system in India in his forthcoming movie, 'Jail', the director was supposed to be all set to take on award functions and make a film on the going on behind the scenes. But he seems to be having second thoughts now.

According to sources, Madhur, who has managed to carve a niche for himself by making hard hitting films 'Chandni Bar', 'Page 3', 'Corporate' and 'Fashion' and the soon to be released 'Jail', was looking to move on to the controversial subject of film awards. There is enough drama related to awards with different camps always alleging foul play. In recent times, actor Aamir Khan made it a point to skip most award functions because of their lack of credibility. Even Sunny Deol is not a regular at awards. There are enough juicy stories about the pressures and wheeling dealing which goes on behind the scenes of most of our awards. It seemed to be a perfect subject for Madhur, until, it seemed that he succumbed to pressure and decided to drop it. According to sources, the director who thrives on critical appreciation and awards for his movies, was told by interested sources to drop the story as he may be dropped from awards altogether. Madhur is believed to have taken the hint and backed off. In fact, now the director is going around saying that he is looking forward to making a comedy next. Stating that he is a great fan of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee and has even commissioned someone to start working on a script. As for the subject of awards, he brushes it off as just a mere idea.
