Veteran Rishi Kapoor, also known as Chintu to his near and dear ones, is seeing red these days. The actor, whose forthcoming film, 'Chintuji' is lined up for release this Friday, has hardly been publicised or marketed by the distributors Eros International. With the release date just a few days off, the actor is trying his best to garner as much publicity as he can about the movie, which has been produced by Bobby Bedi and directed by Ranjit Kapoor, a veteran theatre director and writer of the 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron'.
At a time when small films are doing fairly well, Rishi cannot get over the fact that Eros has not paid any attention to promoting 'Chintuji'. It seems that even the actor's calls and pleas to Eros have fallen on deaf ears, leading him to remark bitterly that they were only interested in big films. Having been a part of this industry for decades, the actor knows too well, the short sightedness of distributors and their unwillingness to back a project which has little star value. Never mind if their starry productions fail to click at the box office. Of course, it leads him and the rest of us to the question of why bother to make a film if you are not interested in promoting it and ensuring that it gives you returns. The actor sincerely believes in this movie and is sure that with the right publicity and promotions, the film would be able to reach out to a much larger audience and have a decent outing at the box office. The film 'Chinutji' was originally titled 'Hadbahedi' and stars Priyanshu Chatterjee, Saurabh Shukla and Kulraj Randhawa besides Rishi Kapoor. A surprise element in the movie is the appearance of Russian actress Kseniya Ryabinkina, who first worked with Rishi's father in 'Mera Naam Joker', a film which also starred Rishi and even got him, his first-ever acting award. The film sees Rishi playing himself, of course with a twist.
