This Friday will see another choc a bloc crowd at the box office. There are some four films which are waiting to release this week. One thing that they all have in common with each other is that they are all small movies. One of the reasons for this kind of a crowd is probably because this may well be the last opportunity that small filmmakers have to release their movies. The biggies are all lined up at the box office from next week onwards.
With the festive season getting off to a kickstart with Eid and Navratri round the corner, the stage is set for the Wanted, Dil Bole Hadippa, What's Your Raashee?, Blue and All The Best. Prospects look rather gloomy for the smaller breed of filmmakers. In the normal course of things, odds are naturally stacked against them, but this year, matters seem to have taken a turn for the worse. So this Friday will see Aamras, Baabarr, Ruslaan and Vaada Raha…I Promise. The last mentioned, of course is not exactly in the same category as the rest as it has a fairly well known star cast in Bobby Deol and Kangana Ranaut and has been directed by Sameer Karnik. It is a story about hope and winning, quite unlike Baabarr, the crime thriller directed by Ashu Trikha. Baabarr stars Soham, Om Puri, Mithun Chakraborty, Sushant Singh and Urvashi Sharma. Aamras, the third film to be released this week is an interesting coming of age film about four young girls. Interestingly, the film is directed by Rupali Guha, daughter of Basu Chatterjee, the man who gave us some amazing comedies like Rajnigandha, Dillagi, Chhoti Si Baat, Chitchor, Khatta Meetha and Shaukeen among others. His daughter also makes her debut with a light hearted movie. The final film, Ruslaan, directed by Mohan Sharma, will see yesteryear's leading actress Moushami Chatterjee's daughter, Megha make her acting debut opposite Rajveer Sharma.
