Washington, Aug 28 (ANI): Actor Owen Wilson has asked the media not to intrude on his privacy, a day after he allegedly tried to commit suicide.
In a statement, the actor said that he needed time to heal, and asked the press and paparazzi to allow him to do so in private.
"I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," People quoted him, as saying.
The actor is recovering in hospital after reportedly slashing his wrists following months of depression following his split from Kate Hudson.
He is also said to have taken a pills overdose.
Though a spokeswoman for the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center confirmed that the actor was being treated at the hospital, she did not give any reasons for his admission.
However, Extra reports that he may have tried to commit suicide over the weekend.
The show also stated that it was the actor's brother Andrew who found him, and immediately dialled the emergency number.
The Santa Monica Police issued a statement of their own, confirming that medics were called in to Wilson's house.
"At 12:10 PM, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to assist the Santa Monica Fire Department paramedics with a medical aid call in the 900 block of 23rd Street," Usmagazine.com quoted a spokesperson, as saying.
Wilson has recently been filming Tropic Thunder, directed by his close friend Ben Stiller. (ANI)
