It is being said so as Kumar Gaurav tried to become a Rock Star with STAR and there were all ingredients for it to be a commercial success, as it had music by Biddoo, Nazia Hassan was the singer and it was coming in the wake of phenomenal success of QURBANI but STAR could not make any impact whatsoever. Interestingly enough, Zeenat Aman was the first female Rock Star to appear in the role of Rock Star in QURBANI and somebody should have followed it up, but it was not done. Interestingly enough, if Zennie Baby had done it how could her contemporary Parveen Babi be far behind! She got a chance to become a Rock Star in SHAAN and she also brought out lot of panache to her rendition of the role.

Among the trio of Khans it was Salman Khan who became the Rock Star on the screen first, and he demonstrated a sophisticated version of the same through LOVE and a real hard-core rock star with his song "O O Jaane Jana", in PYAR KIYA TO DARNA KYA. May be the success of DIL CHAHTA HAI would have inspired Farhan Akhtar to himself become the rock star and ROCK ON was the result that indeed became the first rock film of the country in true sense of words. It indeed was one of the apparent paradoxes that one of the true blue fans of rock music, Saif Ali Khan, who has also performed with the popular band Parikrama and did a commercial displaying his rock star abilities, got a chance to play the role of a rock star in his home film LOVE AAJ KAL.

Indeed the penchant to play Rock Star has taken wings and the new breed of actors of the likes of Ranbir Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh etc., all should take it to new heights.
