Born on September 28th 1929, Lata Mangeshkar turns 80 years today. Her career started in the year 1942 when she was barely thirteen years old, and has spanned over six and a half decades. Winner of several Awards including Padma Bhushan (1969), Padma Vibhushan (1999), Dada Saheb Phalke Award (1989), NTR National Award (1999), Bharat Ratna (2001), three National Film Awards, and 12 Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, Lata Mangeshkar has also been dubbed as the 'Nightingale Of India'. Her melodious voice had entertained not only the country but people throughout the world. From lending her vocals to Nargis, Meena Kumari, Madhubala and Nutan to the younger lot Kajol, Tabu, Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta, she has floored her fans since the last six decades.
