Shashanka Ghosh, Aamir Get Together for Kishore Kumar Biopic

That Kishore Kumar was a multi faceted genius is hardly contestable. Perhaps that is the reason why there were so many in the fray to make a biopic on his life. Once upon a time, one even heard that Nagesh Kuknoor was very keen to make his film on the late Kishoreda. Shoojit Sircar was also supposed to be in the fray and one had even heard of Anurag Kashyap who was very keen to do the same. But at the moment it seems that Shashanka Ghosh, the director of 'Quick Gun Murugun' seems to have taken the lead in the race for a film on Kishore Kumar's life. Not only that, he has actor Aamir Khan's assent to the project as well. According to sources, the director had put this project aside for a while but now he seems to be quite keen to get back to it. The only change is that the focus of the biopic has changed. In its original form, Ghosh's script was more in the nature of a general biopic of the musical genius. But now the focus of the proposed film seems to have shifted to the Kishore Kumar Madhubala love story. It seems that change was initiated by Aamir as he felt that the film had no focus. So now instead of concentrating on all the various facets of Kishore Kumar's genius, the film is likely to focus on the tragic love story between the singer and the reigning queen of hearts, whose life was cut short by a hole hole in her heart. The film is likely to be an intensely emotional one as the Kishore Kumar Madhubala love story was quite a moving one. Actress Vidya Balan is apparently being considered for the role of the legendary Madhubala. It seems that Kashyap has dropped his plans of making a film on Kishoreda after he got wind of Ghosh's project with Aamir. As for Sircar, there is no further news on what's happening with his proposed biopic which was to be produced by UTV. Even the late singer's family has no clue. But to come back to Ghosh's film, one really cannot think of a better actor than Aamir to do justice to the role. And everybody knows this much by now: once Aamir decides to become part of a project, it has little option but to turn out to be a winner. A biopic on a film personality will be quite a first for Hindi films. Of course! Mahesh Bhatt also made a film on his life and affair with Parveen Babi and 'Arth' was the result. Later, he also made 'Who Lamhe' with Kangana Ranaut playing the part of the late actress. Even before that, one can only think of Shyam Benegal's 'Bhumika' which was based on the life of the Marathi actress Hansa Wadkar and was played brilliantly by the late Smita Patil.
