Washington, August 29 (ANI): The inexplicable tattoo on actor Brad Pitt's left forearm has been identified as that of "Otzi," a 5,300-year-old mummy found in the Alps in 1991.
The images caused some buzz in the realm of Iceman studies, causing Horst Seidler, an anthropologist at the University of Vienna and president of the Iceman-Commission, to remark: "I'm sure the Iceman feels honored to decorate an American celebrity, [like the] famous Mr. Pitt!"
The Iceman himself wears the world's oldest tattoos; a series of blue-black has marks and a "cross," something which may have inspired the actor to opt for the strange image.
However, Pitt's publicist Cindy Guagenti said that she had "no idea" why the 'Troy' star had chosen the design.
Katharina Hersel, a spokesperson for the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, Italy, where Otzi's remains are housed, said that she would like to invite Pitt to visit the original iceman.
"If his tattoo is [real], he might be very interested to meet the original Iceman. Mr. Pitt is definitely a trendsetter. As archaeologists, we take note of that," Archaeology quoted Hersel, as saying. (ANI)
