Actor Amitabh Bachchan rings in his 67th birthday tomorrow. He seems to just keep getting better with age. Unlike his other contemporaries, Big B as he is often called, has managed to continuously reinvent himself. All it took was a 'Mohabbatein' from Yash Raj films and he was back playing yet another innings of his life. The television show, 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' was a definitive moment not just in the history of Indian television but also in the history of Bachchan. The show was a phenomenal success and with it, Brand Bachchan was touching dizzying heights once again. Today, he is again back on television, this time as the anchor on the 'Bigg Boss' show, Season 3. His presence has already lifted the show's TRPs. He may no more enjoy the kind of frenzy that he used to in Eighties, but that maybe because his fans have aged along with him. Without making much of a hue and cry about it, the actor has very naturally started slipping into roles which are suitable for his age, and it has not stopped his from experimenting. The actor and his fans have quite a few interesting films to look forward to in the next couple of months. Three of the actor's films, which have him playing absolutely different roles, are due for release. One of these is Sujoy Ghosh's 'Aladin', which has him playing the genie with Ritesh Deshmukh as 'Aladin' and Sanjay Dutt as the villainous ringmaster. Leena Yadav's 'Teen Patti' and Balki's 'Pa' are also waiting to be released. There are a few peaks that he hasn't touched in his career which has spanned more than three decades. Success did not come easily to him, but when it did, it took him to heights that few have scaled. Amitabh Bachchan, the actor of the millennium, is not just a media created brand, he was the voice of a generation of angst ridden 'angry young men.' There are few who have achieved the kind of success and adulation that he has. The real reason is probably because his characters articulated the dreams and aspirations of a generation more keenly and with more truth than any Hindi film hero has done. We are, of course! talking about the era after the Raj Kapoors, the Dilip Kumars and the Dev Anands. He may not be the voice of the young generation today and wisely he has not even ventured into that territory. He has wisely stuck to his own métier and it shows. He has amazingly managed to keep pace with the times, blogging just as naturally as if he was doing it forever. Brand Bachchan may be turning 67 tomorrow, but he does not seem to be in a hurry to retire. He continues to push himself as before, trying to discover new boundaries and new horizons that he can touch. Moveitalkies.com would like to take this occasion to wish him a very happy birthday and a great year ahead.
