This is not some riddle or puzzle that we are asking our patrons to solve, but an interesting development that has come to light a few days back. Media was agog with the news of a clash between Akshay Kumar's DE DANA DAN and Saif Ali Khan's KURBAAN, as both the films were scheduled to release on the same day that is 27th November. However, good sense prevailed and an interesting yet unnecessary clash was avoided. Now KURBAAN is coming a week earlier (20th November) than DE DANA DAN, which will release as per schedule on 27th November.

Coming to our headlines, those following Bollywood happenings in the early nineties will remember what a charismatic pair Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan made. The duo were seen in quite a few film and most of them, barring a couple of bad ones, were successful at the ticket window. The audience simply loved their on screen chemistry and they became the most sought after male pair with the audience, seeing a reflection of the famous Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor pair in them.

Films like YEH DILLAGI, MAIN KHILADI TU ANARI, KISMAT, ARZOO, TU CHOR MAIN SIPAHI etc. opened to packed houses and such was the popularity of the pair that even though some films were really bad and later flopped, their tickets were sold in black on the first two days, specially at small centers.

However, Saif intelligently withdrew from doing multistarrers and the pair thus went their separate ways, both achieving heights of success in the Hindi film industry. Sadly, the last time that the two decided to come together for TASHAN, this film too turned out to be a failure and history repeated itself as the first few days saw a good opening and then a crash, which coupled with Aditya Chopra's stubborn attitude with the multiplex owners too resulted in huge loss of revenue for TASHAN. It's worth remembering here that TASHAN despite not releasing in multiplexes (during the first week) netted around 35 crores from India.

All said and done here's wishing the best to both Saif's KURBAAN and following week Akshay's DE DANA DAN.
