Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have been seen together in films like TASHAN, L.O.C. and OMKARA. However, it is KURBAAN in which the real life couple is being seen as a pair in the conventional sense. Even though KURBAAN has terror as its underlining theme, one has to admit that there would be immense focus on Saif and Kareena coming together for the first time ever since they professed their love for the first time. This must have been an icing on the cake for Karan and Co., right?

"Wrong", Saif Ali Khan is quick to react, "Casting a real life pair can't necessarily be an icing on the cake. In fact a lot of film makers may think that it is not a good idea after all to have you a real life couple on screen."

And why could that be the case?

"May be they would end up feeling that the tension of unfamiliarity that is required between the two people who have just fallen in love could be missing if a real life pair gets together", he reasons, "May be a pair is required to be less familiar with each other to make the desired impact on screen."

Cliched as it may sound but does he feel that audiences would be able to appreciate this fact and manage to differentiate what's happening on screen when compared to their off screen relationship?

"I can confidently state that within two minutes of our characters been seen on the screen, audiences will forget all about Saif and Kareena", he comments, "For them, it would be the journey of Ehsaan and Avantika, not Saif and Kareena."
