Madhur Bhandarkar has done it again. If early response to his Friday release JAIL is any indication, he can pretty much afford to breath easy. Reason being that his film, which was exclusively screened for cops on Monday has found quite some applause coming its way.

Says a source who was present during the screening, "Since JAIL is a sensitive subject, Madhur wanted the police officials to have a dekko at the film as well much before its release. Even though the film has gone through the Censor formalities and would be there for all to see this Friday, people connected with the film didn't want any surprises for anyone. Moreover, screening the film was also a way of acknowledging the fact that how law has its own constraints and has its own way of looking at things."

As it turned out to be the case, a 240 strong audience comprising of cops gave a Thumbs Up to the film for its unbiased portrayal of life in a jail.

"What they loved most was the fact that the film didn't take sides. Neither did it glorify the life of jail inmates nor did it show jail officials in a poor light - the way it is shown in regular commercial films. Instead, it showcased how things actually happen in a jail and why officials are required to act and behave in a particular manner. Also, the entire authenticity factor about the jail setting was noticed as well."

On contacted, Madhur didn't deny that the screening was held. However, he refused to comment any further and suggested that we watch the film and share our views later.
