Actor Sarath Kumar has resigned as President of the Actors Association.
When Vijayakanth was the President of the South Indian Actors Association, Sarath Kumar was the General Secretary. Once Vijayakanth started his own political party, he handed in his resignation.
Following this, Sarath Kumar was elected unopposed as the President of the South Indian Actors Association. On Aug 31, Sarath Kumar launched his own party called Akila Indiya Samathuva Makkal Katchi. That apart, he is also acting in the film 'Nam Naadu.'
Since he is deeply involved in politics and acting, he has submitted a letter of resignation to the working committee asking to be relieved of his responsibilities. The committee will meet day after tomorrow to discuss this last development.
To celebrate 75 years of Tamil cinema, the Actors Association has decided to hold gala celebrations in Singapore and USA. Sarath Kumar was overseeing all the arrangements for that. His wife Radhika's company Radaan was coordinating the arrangements.
So it appears that the committee would request Sarath Kumar to continue in his position till the programs are over.
