After a gap of nearly three years, the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) is back in business. NFDC has announced its plans of getting back into co-production once again.
NFDC is going to begin with conducting a co-production market at Goa's Marriott Resort from November 24th -26th. This initiative is part of the Film Bazaar which will be held alongside the International Film Festival of India to be held in Goa from November 23 to December 3, 2007. On the reason why NFDC had to stop co-producing, Neena Gupta, the managing director of NFDC, is believed to have said that this was stopped for three years due to internal conflicts within the body. But now that they are back, they wish to encourage potential and upcoming filmmakers. Directors or producers will need to submit a complete screenplay along with their application for the same. NFDC's deadline for submitting projects is set for September 28, 2007. NFDC's coming back to the business of co-producing will definitely give a boost to many a new filmmaker.
