After getting the alleged highest deal for his latest movie, Om Shanti Om—Rs 75 crore inclusive of worldwide right but music and satellite rights --- Shah Rukh Khan is all set to notch the next record. His production house, Red Chillies Productions are all set to release 2,000 prints of Om Shanti Om, which will make it the highest number of prints any Indian film has ever released.
If SRK manages to release 2,000 prints of the film, it will beat the erstwhile record held by Rajnikant's Sivaji, with 800-plus prints. According to what the superstar shared with a prominent financial daily, a chunk of these prints will be digital installations. According to SRK, there is a huge interest in non-traditional markets like Poland, Australia, South Africa and Malaysia as well which has seen a demand for more prints. Meanwhile, SRK also confirmed that satellite rights of Om Shanti Om are not part of his deal with Eros International. It is expected that the satellite rights will probably go to Star TV. While the usual practice among channels is to buy the rights of a movie for a decade, SRK, for instance, sold the rights of Main Hoon Na for a period of five years to Star. With Om Shanti Om, he is likely to go for a period of three to five years.
