The Bobby Deol starrer Nanhe Jaisalmer has run into problems. Director Sameer Karnik has been found guilty of stealing the script of the film from Nikhil Saini, a longtime associate of Boney Kapoor, by the writer's association. This is a charge that he denies. If he does not credit Saini as the scriptwriter of the Nanhe Jaisalmer, the release of the film will be held up.
Saini is feeling stabbed in the back as he knew Karnik from the time of Kyon… Ho Gaya Na. He is beleievd to have narrated then film's story to him in good faith and was not aware that he would make some minor changes and pass the script off as his own. Saini came to know about this only when he saw the film's promos and read about the film's story in newspapers. He tried calling the director, but unable to get him on the phone. Finally Sainai complained to the writer's association and a joint tribunal sat and compared both scripts and found them to be similar. The ruling was in Saini's favour and there is a meeting later today when the final decision will be taken. Meanwhile, Karnik has gone on print to deny these allegations and has labeled Saini as a liar. According to Karnik he completed his script by January last year and had it registered at the writer's association as well as with the copyright office in Delhi. Karnik feels it's just an attempt to extort money because of the timing of the accusations. He feels that Saini could have complained when the promos were being aired. The very fact that the allegations have come so close to the film's release make it obvious that the attempt is to extort money. He also denied ignoring the association's calls as he was away in Turkey shooting for Roshan.
