Washington, Sept 17 (ANI): Hong-Kong based director Max Makowski has been roped in by Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros to helm 'Kung Fu', the big screen adaptation of the hit 1970s TV show.
According to Variety, under Makowski's direction the movie will take an edgier path than the 1970s show.
The story revolves around a Shaolin monk, then played by David Carradine, forced to flee to the Wild West, where he uses his martial arts skills to fend off various villians.
The script for the new movie was rewritten by Cory Goodman, based on that of the show penned by Howard Friedlander and creator Ed Spielman.
Producers on the pic are Legendary's Thomas Tull, Scott Mednick and Jon Jashni.
Ed Spielman, who directed the TV series, will be executive producer on the pic.
Makowski was chosen after Albert and Allen Hughes signed on to direct "The Book of Eli" for Warner Bros. (ANI)
