Anurag Kashyap will not be attending the premiere of his film No Smoking. He will instead be attending the premiere of Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met and vice-versa. Both films are set to release on the same day.
Anurag and Imtiaz are childhood friends and since both their films are releasing on the same day, they will be attending the premieres of each other's films. Both directors will catch their own films, first day first show. Both No Smoking, produced by Kumar Mangat and directed by Kashyap and Jab We Met, produced by Ashtavinyak Films and directed by Imtiaz, will release on October 26. According to Anurag, both he and Imtiaz came to Mumbai together with stars in their eyes. They came here together and went to colleges which were close to each other. They became great friends as both has a passion for cinema. Even back in Delhi, both their colleges were close by. While Anurag was in Hansraj College, Imtiaz attended the nearby Hindu College. During their days of struggle, they also stayed in the same building and spent most of their time in each other's house. Since they both came to Mumbai together with the same dream of making a film, Anurag is quite happy that both their films are releasing on the same day. According to Anurag, Sudhir Mishra is their third buddy whose film was also set to be released on the same day but has been postponed. Anurag's only complaint is that Imtiaz did not give him any role in this film. In Socha Na Tha, he apparently used Anurag's shoulder. The favour was returned when Anurag gave him a role in Black Friday.
