Washington, Sep 21 (ANI): It seems that a real-life 'High School Musical' is on the way.
Latest reports claim that Showtime, Lionsgate and Spitfire Pictures will team up to make an untitled documentary about real students and faculty competing against each other on stage.
The film, which is being written and directed by Barry Blaustein, will follow three southern Indiana high schools as they attempt to stage a musical in order to get into the International Thespian Festival.
The documentary will be full of musical numbers and behind the scenes footage of the students attempting to work together with staff members.
"The story captivated us. It was really rich and unexpected," the Hollywood Reporter quoted Kevin Beggs, president of television programming and production for Lionsgate, as saying.
The film will be shown at different film festivals in 2008, and then will be presented on Showtime. (ANI)
