London, Sept 22 (ANI): Veteran rock band The Rolling Stones has topped the list for the 'The Top Earning Music Act Of The Past Year,' with an earning of 88 million dollars between June 2006 and June this 2007.
US business publication Forbes, which compiled the chart, credited the band's success to thier Bigger Bang world tour that lasted for two years and grossed 437 million dollars.
"The really serious money comes from touring. And no-one can pull in the big bucks like an older, established music act," The BBC quoted Forbes, as saying.
Second on the list is US rapper Jay-Z with a total income of 83 million dollars.
Pop icon Madonna bagged the third position with earnings of 72 million dollars), and rock band Bon Jovi came in fourth with earnings of 67 million dollars.
Wrapping up the top five was Sir Elton John, who earned 53 million dollars.
