Shyam Benegal is reportedly giving Ravi Kishen a tough time. By making him go through several retakes for every shot. It's a learning experience for the Bhojpuri star, who is not used to the word retake.
Ravi is playing the lead in Benegal's Mahadev. The film is supposed to be an out-and-out comic flick and has nearly six funky songs. In the film, Ravi plays a compounder who is in love with a widow played by Rajeshwari Sachdev. Shreyas Talpade plays a postman opposite Amrita Rao. Benegal has the reputation of being a hard taskmaster and is making Ravi go through the grind and give several retakes. Apparently for a particular scene, the actor was made to cycle two kilometers before a shot so that it would look authentic. But Ravi, who is an ardent Benegal fan, is taking it as a learning experience. According to him, he was not used to hearing the word 'retake.' And if he did, he was sure he would collapse. The actor finds his role challenging and he is really surprised that a director of Benegal's stature is making such different and youthful film. He was captivated by the story when Benegal approached him and complimented him for his acting.
