London, Oct 1 (ANI): Classic dresses worn by yesteryear's sex symbol Marilyn Monroe will be displayed in an exhibition in the UK this week.
The dresses will be open for public viewing after being kept hidden for forty years.
Along with the gowns worn by the late actress, the exhibition will also showcase the patterns and sketches crated by the late celebrated costume designer William Travilla.
The pink satin dress that the sizzling star of the fifties wore to perform 'Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend' in 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' will also be seen on the show that will be held at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel in Brighton, East Sussex between October 2 and October 7.
The costumes designed by Travilla for Monroe became famous as 'The Lost Collection, since he preserved them under lock and key in his quarters.
However, after his death in 1990, the items were handed over to his partner, Bill Sarris.
Sarris hopes to raise funds for Alzheimer's charities through the exhibition.
"This is what Monroe fans have been waiting for. Never before have these items left the Travilla private estate so it's the first time people can get close to Marilyn and experience iconic Marilyn memorabilia," the Daily Snack quoted organiser Andrew Hansford , as saying. (ANI)
