Vidhu Vinod Chopra's delight at his film Eklavya being chosen as India's entry to the Oscars has been a bitter victory as the entire issue has been tarnished with allegations of the selection process being rigged by filmmaker Bhavna Talwar of Dharm, the other contender for the slot.
Chopra is all set to lobby for his movie despite the fierce opposition and the Bombay High Court declaring it as a case of prima facie bias. He is adamant to stick on and see Eklavya through. According to Chopra, in the first place, he never even expected Eklavya to be nominated, but he had held such hopes for Parineeta and Lage Raho. He agrees that the film did not do too well at home but is not exactly sure why that was so. But he is happy that the film did well abroad. That helped him recover the cost of the film and also enjoy a little profit. He believes in staying true to the script and is very happy with the way Eklavya has turned out. The director is all set to fly to the US where he intends to visit a lot of cities. He already has a publicist, an agency and a lawyer in place. While promoting Eklavya, Chopra believes that he will also get some time to finish the script that he is currently working on. He dismisses reports of him using his power to get Eklavya selected and counter attacks with 'Where was my power when Lage Raho and Parineeta were released?' As for future plans regarding his directorial venture, he will announce it in a couple of months once his script is complete.
