London, October 2 (ANI): Hollywood superstar Sylvester Stallone says that he has had the most terrible experience of his life while shooting 'John Rambo' on Burma-Thailand border.
The actor who returned from Burma eight days ago, before the crackdown last week against the largest pro-democracy protests, revealed that he was shocked to see the plight of people in the country, while he was shooting the fourth movie in the action franchise on the Salween River.
"I witnessed the aftermath - survivors with legs cut off and all kinds of land mine injuries, maggot-infested wounds and ears cut off. We saw many elephants with blown off legs. We hear about Vietnam and Cambodia and this was more horrific," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.
"This is a hellhole beyond your wildest dreams. All the trails are mined. The only way into Burma is up the river," he added.
Stallone also revealed that even his crew was threatened dire consequences if they did not leave the place.
"We were told we could get seriously hurt if we went on," he said.
He further said that many Burmese extras working on 'John Rambo' told him how their near and dear ones were imprisoned.
Stallone clarified that his film would not depict Burmese people as victims of Rambo.
"The Burmese are beautiful people. It's the military I am portraying as cruel," he said. (ANI)
