Taking a look back at something that happened on this day, exactly one year ago...
Last year, King Khan aka Shah Rukh Khan did something that he did this year too. On 2 January, 2013, the first-look posters of SRK’s much-awaited film of 2013, Chennai Express were released. So much so, that though the release was a good few months away, audiences went crazy to see the very first poster from the film.
Shah Rukh Khan’s magnum opus Chennai Express, which raked in big bucks at the box office as we know, was then touted as being one of the biggest films of the year. The first series of posters were interesting enough, and piqued the interest of the fans adequately. Nobody quite knew what the film was about, so seeing Shah Rukh and Deepika in lungis, surrounded by typical South Indians, was intriguing enough.
The poster was just what we hoped it would be- catchy, interesting, and revealing just the right amount about the film.
This year too, SRK chose 2 January as his preferred date, to release the first look poster of his latest- Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. Once again, the poster has created ripples among his fans. The poster is cool, smart and intriguing. Audiences are already aware that it is a heist film, but seeing SRK in the all-new bearded avatar on the digital poster is reward enough to come into the new year. Deepika Padukone adds the requisite dose of glamour to the proceedings, while Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah are the perfect foil to the duo.
Here’s hoping that like Chennai Express, Happy New Year too proves to be incredibly successful for the Baadshah Khan.
