By Abid, Glamsham EditorialBox-office can be highly unpredictable and can spring up surprises, both pleasant and unpleasant, depending on which side of the fence one is!
While there was little to choose between the opening shows of Y-films' MERE DAD KI MARUTI, the Subhash Kapoor directed JOLLY L.L.B. and EROS International's 3G, but the audience gave a decisive verdict before the first day ended. And it was the Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao and Boman Irani starrer, JOLLY L.L.B., which saw a good pickup on Friday itself and a decisive jump in collections on Saturday and Sunday. The film ended the first weekend netting a creditable 12 crore plus (to be validated).
Even the Saqib Saleem and Ram Kapoor starrer, MERE DAD KI MARUTI, saw a pickup on Saturday and Sunday, but it was not substantial enough. During the opening weekend MDKM netted around 5-6 crore (to be validated).
The third release of the week, the Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan starrer, 3G, was not as lucky and managed just around 3-3.5 crore during the opening weekend.
As they say, a good opening (read first weekend!) is half the battle won, and so the celebrations can begin for the cast and crew of JOLLY L.L.B., and it comes as no surprise to us as we had been predicting the same for a while now.
