First look: After Earth
Will Smith plays General Cypher Raige and he is on a trip with his son Kitai (Jaden). But an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai’s craft, they crash land on Earth, and it is up to Kitai to save them both. "Son, this is not training," Cypher intones. "This is a Class 1 quarantined planet...everything on this planet has evolved to kill humans," just before Kitai embarks on his journey.
Jaden Smith has bulked up for the role. Matt McDaniel writes on Yahoo! blog, the Movie Talk, 'I was able to ask Jaden a few questions via about his first time experience as a true action star. I asked how much of a physical challenge this movie was in comparison to his last lead role in "The Karate Kid." Jaden answered, "It was not as physically demanding as Karate Kid because I didn't have to do all the stretching, but it was still pretty hard because I had to put on quite a bit of size."
The movie is set to hit the marquee on June 7.
