Actor Vijay and his movie Kaavalan were the stars at the Shanghai Film Festival's 14th edition. The film festival, being hosted in China, is screening movies from 80 countries, which includes Academy Award winners. Vijay's Kaavalan earned the unique distinction of being the only movie from Kollywood to be screened at the festival. The movie was screened with Mandarin and English subtitles, which really moved the guests.
Actor Vijay personally attended the screening; this is his first presence at an international film festival. After the screening, Vijay said he was overwhelmed with the audience, who shed tears after watching the climax scenes of Kaavalan. The actor said that it was one of the memorable moments in his life, and also remembered martial arts legend Jackie Chan and his connection to the city. The actor also told the persons attending the film festival that Jackie Chan has a huge fan following in India.
