Most popular cars in the UK in 2012 revealed as sales soar

More than two million cars were sold in the UK in 2012, the highest number since the recession struck in 2008. December alone saw an increase of 3.7% compared with the same month in 2011. Despite high sales, numbers have not managed to match pre-recession sales of 2.4m in 2007. Diesel cars proved more popular among consumers taking 50.8% of total sales while purchases of electric cars were boosted by 9.4%.
